Does Joining a Sorority Make Sense At Your House?

👇 Podcast:   Parenting Your "Nearly Flown"   JUST.  GOT.  EASIER. ðŸ‘‡

So you have a High School freshman, sophomore, junior, or senior daughter that is considering college in their future.  You want them to get the most from college while, of course, getting a degree that propels them into adulthood successfully and with a job that can sustain them, right?

How can they make the most of college?  Generally it's only 2-4 years.  The first year is the toughest.  They need to set solid groundwork almost with their first foot on campus.

Lurking in the background looms the question facing many a household...do they go through "rush" and consider joining a sorority.  If "yes" might be the case at your house, then there are points you will want to know even if your daughter is in the early stages of high school.  If "no", I give you a way to explore alternatives.  That first college semester is crucial.

Having been through this myself, first in college, and later with my daughters, I have taken a step away from what I normally cover in this podcast to bring you my "take" on this very topic of sorority, yes/no.  Whether my take is "wisdom" or "folly", it is from a Mom's heart and perspective with "info to know" and "suggestions" mixed in as well.  Others, no doubt, will have an entirely different take and point of view.  Either way, it is my hope to help give you information to consider as you ponder "sorority life" at your house.

I've approached this topic from the following angles:

  1. The College Basis. [1:52]
  2. Why Say "Yes" to Rush and Sororities [3:15]
  3. Why Say "No" to Rush and Sororities [4:04]
  4. What are Rush Tips/Pointers/Considerations [4:58]
  5. What I Told My Daughters When We Considered Rush at Our House [9:29]

Yes, this edition of Parenting Your "Nearly Grown"  JUST.  GOT.  EASIER. is entirely different than normal.  Again, it is meant to broaden your knowledge should you be facing this at your house.

Show Note:  This podcast went longer than I anticipated so I created a "Part Two" on the sorority topic.  Should you want to get the second half, please DM me on Instagram @jellygenerationtalk OR email me at [email protected] and we get you Part 2 (if email, put "Sorority, Part 2" in the subject line).

Each week we strive to bring you usable, concrete educational topics you can teach your "nearly grown" AND we strive to do it in a few short and power packed minutes each week.  If you haven't already, consider subscribing.  We make our subject headings clear.  If there is a week that has a topic that just doesn't fit your house - then skip that week.  For the weeks that do "fit", give us a listen.  You'll always walk away with more ways to get wisdom in front of your child before they graduate into adulthood.

Next week's topic:  "3 Things to Teach Your "Nearly Grown" in just ONE Hour This Next Weekend."  Good stuff.

As always . . .

You CAN Have Success in the Middle of it ALL
