The time to help your "almost grown" learn how to put their best foot forward - is NOW.

Have you ever watched your child introduce themselves to others?    OR . . .  Watch them as someone is introducing themselves to your child?

If you do, you'll likely notice that they stumble through it.

Here's the thing, they need learn how to do it effectively.  It is so much more than "Hello, my name is...".   You want them to feel confident, look confident, and to put the person they are introducing themselves to at ease.  Your child deserves to be remembered after the introduction.  You might call this "networking", but that's not quite accurate.  It's more like "life-working".

Just in case you are thinking it is too...

"How to Flip Their Social Media Script"

97%.  Yes, 97% of "almost grown" kids are where?  [no drum roll needed]. The answer is obvious - social media.

Who makes the social media yes/no decision at your house?  Two replies come to mind:
  • You. And along with your decision comes a big helping of frustration and eyerolls.
  • OR they just join one or more without knowing the gravity of the decision they've just made.

Does it have to happen quite that way?  There is a way to achieve parent (and your child's goals) thru a 3rd method.

Flip Their Script.

Have your "almost grown" child report to YOU the good-bad-ugly of each social media site they are interested in.  Being on social media should be treated as a privilege - one they earn.

As your "almost grown" approaches life after you, social media...

Has Your Teen Begun Networking Yet?

Podcast:   Parenting Your "Nearly Grown"   JUST.   GOT.   EASIER.
"5 Tips For an Email Every Teen Should Send"
When you hear the word "networking", what comes to your mind?
Is it slimy, manipulative, hard, boring, useless OR is it rewarding, helpful, and giving?

You can probably guess which is the better answer.  Odds are high that your "nearly grown" child might think at least some of the negatives.

But let me assure you, one word they likely think about networking is  - - - FEAR.

Why fear?
We've taught our kids "don't talk to strangers" . . . "stranger danger" . . . and more.  Rightly so, of course.  But now they need to break out of this mindset and begin that climb into reaching up and out - one step at a time.

Plus, reaching out always has the "risk" of someone not acknowledging the...

Podcast:   Parenting Your "Nearly Grown"   JUST.   GOT.   EASIER.
"Networking - Beyond The Lemonade Stand"

Reality and Truth >>> Networking and meeting people face-to-face?  It's a very critical and MUST skill to have.  Is your child ready?

Sadly, our teens and college-aged kids have two (2)  strikes against them to mastering this skill.

Your child has likely been in hibernation for months or as long as 2 years.
Your child has probably relied on technology (phones, social media...) to connect with others in general.

Let this statistic sink in:

In a survey conducted by TechJury.net, 81% of the respondents by the end of 2021 will have face-to-face meetings.

So how can you help your child learn these skills?  They need to start with the basics.  They need to practice them.  In this podcast you'll...

The Most Frequently Asked Question by a Teen . . .

Podcast:   Parenting Your "Nearly Grown"   JUST.   GOT.   EASIER.
      "You want $20 - AGAIN?"

If you took a survey of parents with teens, you can almost 100% predict that the #1, most frustrating question asked by your teen is . . . . "Can I have $20"  OR $10 or $5 or $25 OR . . . well, you get the picture.

What's possibly a bad answer?  "Here's $20, honey."  Of course, there are times that giving them that money is correct.

But many times giving them that $20 says:
  • "i will always be here to give you $"
  • OR "money is easy to come up with"
  • OR "you aren't able to figure this want/need out for yourself."
  • OR "this $20 isn't needed elsewhere so here you go"

Saying no to your teen is hard.  But what if you had another answer?

In today's podcast:

  • learn 3 answers besides "yes, here's the money " and "no, just NO"
  • learn how each answer has...

2 Methods To Show Your Teen

Podcast:   Parenting Your "Nearly Grown"   JUST.   GOT.   EASIER.
"Does Your Teen Understand the Value of Dollar ?"

Have you looked at your teen and thought:

  • "Why don't they value their stuff?"
  • "What's it going to take to get them to value money?"
  • "How many times do I have to say no that's too expensive?"
  • "I wish I had a nickel for every time I thought they want $20 again?"

Myth:  My teen doesn't understand the value of a dollar

Truth:  They DO understand - but is it the right definition

Why does this matter?  Odds are high that your teen doesn't have the right concept of a dollar.  Not attaching the right concept to money easily leads to living paycheck to paycheck, debt, spending on less than needed items before necessities.   Teaching this concept isn't something you just want to leave to ...

The Great Teen 4X "Get It Done" Reset

Podcast:   Parenting Your "Nearly Grown"   JUST.   GOT.   EASIER.
A Cure for "I Don't Have Time To Do That"

It's time.  It's time that teens learned how to get MORE out of the time they spend.  In fact, many teens can see an increase of 4x output or more by just a few small changes.
It's likely you've heard around your house:
"I didn't get around to that."    "How can I possibly do that with all my other stuff?"
And yet . . . you go into their room and their "studying" hour is really only about 15 minutes of constructive use.
Some might think this is simply a time management lesson.  In reality, it is much broader than that.  The short term pay off to getting more output might be be better grades, picking up skills they need but never had the time for, and more.  But, again, it is so much more than that:
